Reuters Plus shortlisted for the M&M Global Content Creator Award

We are thrilled to announce that Reuters Plus has been shortlisted for the Content Creator Award at the M&M Global Awards 2017. This newly launched special award celebrates the world’s best branded content marketing campaigns.

Dedicated to media owners who create commercial content to resonate, engage and ultimately increase product uplift for clients, this award category recognises our recent partnerships with Canon, Samsung and Airbus.

In 2016, Canon partnered with Reuters for 'Pursuit of the Shot' – a campaign that sought to trigger debate and changes people’s perspectives through photography. Reuters photojournalists equipped with Canon’s EOS 5D Mark IV cameras captured seven stories that highlighted important societal issues and themes in today’s world. Stories were published on Canon’s website and brought to life with pop-up urban art exhibitions on the streets of seven key European cities. The results were powerful pieces of photojournalism that had an impact across media formats and beyond. 

Our Focus 360 campaign for Samsung was built to showcase the capabilities of Samsung’s affordable Gear 360 camera to news broadcasters and journalists worldwide as a storytelling tool offering innovative perspectives on the news agenda. Gear 360 kit was distributed to 30 locations around the world and journalists were trained to incorporate 360 content into their everyday news gathering with coverage spanning six continents, including the Rio Olympic Games 2016, U.S. elections, the ongoing refugee crises in Syria and Iraq, festivals and cultural events. Together, we ushered in a new era of VR journalism through a unique combination of engaging content, innovative technology and targeted distribution.  

In order to raise awareness of global challenges in the aerospace industry, we launched a multi-channel campaign for Airbus at Farnborough Airshow 2016 targeting global CEOs, senior BDMs and aviation professionals. Reuters created custom videos and articles, picking out the most interesting and newsworthy stories to create daily content, hosted within an expandable custom ad unit, targeted to reach the right audience at the right time. The campaign was supported by Twitter and Instagram live feeds to drive the conversation in real time, ensuring that the content captured the attention of decision makers before, during, and after the Farnborough Air Show.

The winners will be announced at the M&M Global Awards ceremony on September 7th 2017, at the Natural History Museum, London.
